This programme assists learners to develop an appropriate Workplace Skills Plan, to prepare an Annual Training Report and to advise and implement a training and development plan which will address the skills needs of the individual, the organisation and the sector as a whole

Entry Requirements: 

A learner wishing to enter for this course must :
- Demonstrate an understanding of the key principles of an outcomes-based system
- Have access to company’s strategic skills development objectives
- Be computer-literate so as to understand the nature of the business and to have access to both employees and management at every level of the business.
- Have good inter-personal and communication skills, and the ability to keep track of a wide range of training and financial records by using computer technology.

Duration: 

Four days plus one support day

Who should attend?: 

The training is suitable for :
- Line managers responsible for training
- Educators and developers of training staff
- Members of Training or Skills Development Committees
- HR, IR and HRD managers
- Anyone required to develop workplace skills plans and reports for SETA’s
- Anyone involved in delivery of learnerships

What’s in it for the learner?: 

The newly acquired skills and knowledge will allow the learner to facilitate skills development within their company but also as a contracted SDF to various companies.

Assessments: 

Upon completion of the workshop, you will be required to complete a portfolio of evidence.
Your portfolio will demonstrate the competencies that you have developed in the course and the application of these competencies in your workplace.
To assist you in developing your portfolio, you will receive a complete electronic toolkit containing all the legislation, templates and examples of quality policies regarding skills development.

Certification: 

Once a learner has been declared competent, his/her results are forwarded to the ETDP SETA for endorsement. A nationally recognised certificate is issued which give learner automatic entry into the Certificate programme.

On completion of the workshop: 

During this course we will focus on the assessment requirements you need to meet as well as the background knowledge required to be a successful Skills Development Facilitator. On day one you will learn about the following:
- SAQA, Skills Development and Skills Development Levy Act
- The National Qualification Framework
- SAQA Qualifications and Skills Programmes
- Learnerships
- Competency Based Learning and Assessments
- The different role-players in the skills development process

On day two you will learn about the following:
- National and sectoral skills development trends
- The process to follow when developing a workplace skills plan
- How to promote skills development in the workplace (including trade unions)
- How to conduct a training needs analysis
- How to conduct a skills audit
- Consultation with the employer, the employee and the training committee
- Different delivery approaches
- Develop a Workplace Skills Plan for submission to the SETA

On day three and four you will learn about the following:
- The difference between training, education and development
- The concept of learning organisations
- Learning and learning methodologies
- Implementing the WSP in the organization
- Learner profiles and how to develop these
- Planning and co-coordinating training interventions
- Evaluating learning interventions
- Determining the impact of learning interventions on the organization including Return on Investment
- Reviewing and reporting on the impact of learning interventions
- Compiling the ATR
