Job Description
AECI Botswana (Pty) Ltd, an explosives and specialty chemicals company focused on providing products and services to a broad spectrum of customers in mining, manufacturing and agricultural sectors, has the following vacancies:
MAGAZINE MASTER X2 – JWANENG DEBSWANA MINE (2 YEAR 7 MONTHS CONTRACT)
Core Responsibilities
– Be the company’s Legal Appointee for the explosives magazine area
– Enforce and ensure compliance to the provisions of the Explosives Act of CAP.24.02 regulations
– Receive and issue explosives into and from the magazine respectively
– Record the explosives issues and receipts in the relevant magazine registers and ensure that the records are accurate at all times
– Daily update of the explosives records/magazine register
– Explosives storage as per the approved stacking plans
– Ensure compliance to magazine licenses conditions
– Compile explosives returns as per the Explosives Act of CAP.24.02 requirements
– Responsible for magazine security
– Ensure that all applicable SHE controls such as policies, procedures, Khomacau Site rules and regulations required to maintain an orderly magazine operation are enforced.
– Ensure safe working practices are employed at all times in the handling of explosives, during offloading and loading.
– Responsible for magazine and surrounding area housekeeping as per the Explosives Act of CAP.24.02 requirements.
– Supervise all site tasks performed in and around the magazine area and ensure that the correct PPE, safety devices and equipment are used at all times.
– Magazine stock management.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements
– At least a Cambridge ‘O Level’ BGCE certificate or equivalent
– At least 5 years’ experience in a similar or higher position
– Be in possession of valid driver’s License
– Be in possession of a valid Open Pit or Underground Blasting Licence
– Be a Botswana Citizen
– Must be fluent in both Setswana and English
– Knowledge of and experience in AECI products is an added advantage
– Good understanding of the Explosives Act and, the Mines, Works, Quarries and Machinery Act (MQWM) and other relevant legislative requirements
– Blast pattern demarcation
– Housekeeping on-bench, in explosives vehicles and in and around the magazines
– Safe keeping of blasting equipment and tools
