Childline Botswana (formally Childline Botswana Trust) is a non‐governmental, non‐profit organization based in Gaborone, Botswana.
It was founded in 1990 by Doreen Khama and Fay Smith in response to rising rates of child abuse.
The organization is established as a trust fund, governed by a Board of Trustees drawn from community members.

Objectives / What They Aim To Do

Some of their key objectives include:

Providing emergency services for children in need

Helping parents or caregivers who are struggling with their children, including where there is abuse or fear of abuse

Assisting adults who themselves may have been abused as children

Offering the public a way to report suspected child abuse

Referring professionals (social welfare, teachers, health workers, police etc.) and other NGOs for cases or joint action

Educating the public on child abuse, children’s rights, and advocating for protective policies

Services Offered

Helpline / Phone Support: They provide a free, confidential helpline service available 24/7

Support for youth and children in all cases of abuse (including sexual abuse, domestic violence) and also for mental health issues resulting from such abuse

Counseling, casework, intervention, and where needed, alternative care arrangements

Support also extends to caregivers, parents who need help, and adults who suffered abuse in their childhood
