
Chief Executive Officer at Botswana Meat Commission
Job Description
The incumbent will report to the Board and will provide strategic leadership, direction and overall management of BMC to ensure long-term sustainability, profitability and competitiveness in both domestic and export markets. The incumbent will also spearhead transformational initiatives to elevate BMC’s global presence, positioning the commission as a premier exporter of high-quality meat products, while driving stakeholder value and reinforcing our reputation as a trusted international partner.
THE JOB
The position will, inter alia, be responsible for the following:

Providing strategic leadership and ensuring the existence of policies that enable effective execution of the mandate of BMC.

Leading the transformation of BMC into a commercially sustainable and self-sufficient enterprise.

Forging alliances and partnerships that will facilitate the expansion of BMC’s footprint in regional and international markets, and ultimately deliver favourable pricing outcomes for primary producers.

Developing and maintaining effective strategic relationships with critical stakeholders.

Ensuring increased throughput and optimising resources to improve efficiencies at all BMC plants.

Ensuring BMC maintains compliance with international standards and industry best practices.

Fostering the highest standards of corporate governance within the organisation.

Leading implementation of policies aimed at attracting, developing, and retaining talent, as well as, driving culture transformation, employee engagement and performance, in alignment with set strategic objectives.
THE PERSON
The right candidate will possess the following:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Agriculture, Food Sciences, Manufacturing, or a related field is essential; together with a Master’s Degree in Business, Strategy, Economics, Commerce, Project Management, or related discipline.

A minimum of 15 years’ experience in an executive management role in the commercial sector.

Proven track record of strong strategic leadership and turnaround management experience.

In-depth knowledge of food processing, or manufacturing industry procedures desirable.
