Job Description
The Non-Bank Financial Institutions Regulatory Authority – NBFIRA a statutory body mandated to supervise and regulate the non-bank financial sector, invites visionary, values-driven, and transformational leaders to express interest in the role of Chief Executive Officer.
As the CEO, you will provide overall stewardship and direction for NBFIRA, ensuring all operations align with its mission to regulate and develop Botswana’s non-bank financial sector. You will lead the implementation of Board-approved strategies, guide daily operations, and inspire a productive, ethical, and performance-driven workforce. The role demands institutional cohesion, sound financial governance, and meaningful stakeholder engagement both locally and internationally.
Key responsibilities
* Lead the overall performance and strategic direction of NBFIRA.
* Implement regulatory frameworks and ensure compliance by regulated entities.
* Provide visionary leadership to senior management and staff.
* Oversee all administrative, financial, legal, and operational/ Regulatory functions.
* Engage with Government, industry stakeholders, and international bodies on regulatory matters.
* Represent NBFIRA locally, regionally, and internationally.
Qualifications and Experience
* A Master’s degree in either Finance, Economics, Law, Business Administration, or related field.
* Minimum 15 years of executive leadership experience, with exposure to financial regulation, governance, or public sector policy.
* Proven ability to manage institutional strategy, people, performance, and partnerships at a high level.
