Job Description

Registered as a Savings & Credit Co-Operative Society in 2013. BPOSACCOS offers Loans, Savings, Funeral Cover services to members of the Cooperative.

 

 

BPOSACCOS invites suitably qualified, experienced, innovative, result oriented and self-driven individuals who are citizens of Botswana to apply for the following position:

 

 

Chief Executive Officer

 

 

Responsible for providing strategic leadership, direction and coordination of BPOSACCOS in accordance with the Society’s Corporate Strategy, policies, goals, guidelines as established from time to time to ensure implementation of SACCOS mandate. The contract is for a period of thirty-six (36 months) renewable.

 

 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

 

• Return on Shareholders’ Investment and creation of shareholder value.
• Operational Excellence through – Speed, Service, Security & Sustainability

 

 

Key Areas of Responsibility include:

 

 

1. Strategic Leadership and Governance

 

 

• Lead day-to-day operations, ensuring alignment with BPOSACCOS’ corporate strategy and Board directives;
• Set strategic direction, objectives, and performance targets;
• Promote ethical business conduct and strong governance practices;
• Ensure compliance with BPOSACCOS policies, the Co-Operative Societies Act, relevant banking regulations, and the Data Protection Act.

 

 

2. Strategic Planning

 

 

• Lead the development, implementation and monitoring of the BPO- SACCOS’ strategic plan outlining the direction and policies which seek to ensure that objectives are achieved;
• Establishing the strategic framework for the allocation of BPOSAC- COS’ resources including financial and human capital;
• Drive the delivery of established performance targets as defined in the strategic plan.
• Keeping the Sacco abreast of new technological and commercial developments pertinent to the Sacco’s field of operation and within approved budgets;

 

 

3. Financial Management & Accountability

 

 

• Develop and present for consideration by the Management Board, an annual budget for BPOSACCOS;
• Prepare and submit each month, expenditure, cash reconciliation, bank reconciliation, list of loans and savings, progress report of the business and cash in hand for inspection by the Board;
• Ensure that full and complete records of all assets, liabilities income and expenses of the Society are kept

 

 

4. Human Capital Management

 

 

• Oversee the development and implementation of all Human Resource policies including terms and conditions of employment, compensation, reward, training and development, performance assessment, leadership, talent development and succession planning of management and overall staff of the BPOSACCOS;

 

 

5. Records & Information Management

 

 

• Ensure robust records management systems, including digitisation of routine processes.
• Maintain accurate financial and operational records.
• Manage all financial transactions accurately.

 

 

6. Procurement & Operational Efficiency

 

 

• Implement cost-reduction strategies while maintaining service quality.
• Strengthen supplier management and ensure procurement transparency
• Ensure Competitive Advantage

 

 

7. Risk Management & Compliance

 

 

• Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate strategic, operational, and financial risks.
• Ensure business continuity and compliance with all statutory obligations.

 

 

8. Stakeholder Engagement

 

 

• To issue notices of the General and Board meeting and prepare all papers, accounts and reports for such meeting and records minutes of such meeting;
• Ensure effective systems of communication so that all stakeholders and employees understand the BPOSACCOS strategic objectives and are able to contribute effectively to their achievement. Monitors and evaluates performance of staff.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

 

• Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance plus professional accounting qualification of an internationally recognised institute of professional accountants (ACCA, CIMA, BICA, CA). Membership of BICA is a requirement
• At least ten (10) years of work experience, five (5) of which should have been at a leadership and management level within organizations that have portfolios that may include financial institutions.
