
Diamond Drill Supervisor at Khoemacau Copper Mine
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
-Supervise daily underground core drilling operations and ensure compliance with safety and operational procedures.
-Conduct pre-start inspections and enforce safety standards throughout drilling activities.
-Interpret drilling plans and ensure accurate execution of drilling patterns and orientations.
-Oversee drill rig setup, operation, maintenance, and equipment housekeeping.
-Maintain accurate records of drilling metrics and core recoveries.
-Coach, mentor, and train drill assistants and operators to build local capacity.
-Communicate regularly with geology, planning, and engineering teams regarding drill progress and outcomes.
-Coordinate logistics related to drilling consumables, core transport, and equipment servicing.
Requirements and Skills:
-Minimum 5 years’ underground core drilling experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or trainer role.
-Strong knowledge of diamond drilling techniques, safety procedures, and rig maintenance.
-Experience working with underground drill rigs (e.g., LM series or similar).
-Proven ability to lead and develop teams in a demanding mining environment.
-Excellent communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
-High level of safety awareness and commitment to operational excellence.
-Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
