Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To provide strategic direction and leadership for the effective and efficient delivery of the Research and Knowledge Business function.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
•Develops of Research and Knowledge Business policies, legislation, standards and strategies.
•Monitors compliance to policies, legislation, standards and strategies for Research and Knowledge Business.
•Coordinates development and review of research and knowledge guidelines.
•Interprets Research and Knowledge Business policies and legislation to stakeholders to guide national development.
•Consults with stakeholders in the development and review of Research and Knowledge Business policies, legislation and standards.
•Represents the Ministry in various fora on issues of National Research and Knowledge Business.
•Coordinates development and maintenance of the performance strategy and plan for Research and Knowledge Business.
•Monitors development and implementation of the Research Agenda and report on the Research and Knowledge System of government.
•Manages systems for the collection, storage and dissemination of research and knowledge information.
•Coordinates value addition and commercialisation of knowledge.
•Monitors Research and Knowledge Business performance.
•Knowledge management activities and implements strategies for the creation, acquisition, sharing and use of knowledge.
•Monitors data curation, triple processing storage and dissemination of knowledge.
•Provides oversight on knowledge generation, exchange and management in the National System of Innovation.
•Develops the innovation to create awareness on the importance of research.
•Advocates for promotion and safe use of nuclear technology through educational campaigns.
•Determines immediate and long term financial priorities for Research.
•Advocates for the development of the recurrent budget and development budget for the function.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A Degree in Social Sciences or a related field. A professional qualification in Research Management and/or a post graduate qualification in Communication will be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE:
Sixteen (16) years experience in Research or Knowledge Business or a related field of which two (2) should have been served as a Deputy Director or equivalent.
