
Driver II (Clinical Waste) at Okavango District Council
Job Description
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Okavango District Council employees for the above-mentioned post, tenable in Shakawe.
Experience:
Must have served for at least two (2) years as an Okavango District Council employee and possess a valid Class B Driver’s license which has been held for at least two (2) years.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To collect and transport clinical waste from health facilities and deliver it to a designated waste facility.
DUTIES:
. Drives clinical vehicles with or without a trailer transporting clinical or hazardous waste in accordance with traffic regulations.
. Performs daily basic routine checks before starting the vehicle and reports identifiable faults to the supervisor.
. Maintains the vehicle logbook by ensuring it is readily available in the vehicle and signed by the action officer before commencement of the journey.
. Repairs tyre punctures and replaces worn-out tyres, ensuring tyres are inflated to the correct pressure for the load and road conditions.
. Washes and cleans the vehicle with the assistance of clinical waste collectors, including cleaning the refrigeration unit.
. Reports accidents to the police and supervisor.
. Monitors vehicle mileage and informs the supervisor when the vehicle is due for servicing.
. Checks the insurance and license disc for validity and reports expiry to the supervisor.
. Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.
