Job Description

The positions are based at the Mine Site located northwest of Botswana, and all are camp based roles. 3) ENVIRONMENTAL OFFICER
BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:
The Environmental Officer will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining the Environmental Management Plan and ensuring the mine’s compliance with company standards, regulations and company standards.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Your key accountabilities include:
– Implementing and monitoring the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) to ensure alignment with site operations.
– Conducting inspections and audits to assess compliance with relevant environmental regulations and standards.
– Preparing and submitting reports and analyses on environmental performance, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
– Managing and coordinating permit applications, renewals and compliance activities.
– Coordinating environmental sampling, data analysis, and submission of regulatory reports.
– Oversight of waste segregation, pollution prevention, and environmental awareness across site operations.
– Supporting site environmental audits, permit submissions and non-hazardous and hazardous waste management.
– Supervising staff training, planning, land restoration, and reclamation initiatives.
– Advising on sustainability planning and restoration projects.
– Promoting continuous compliance and sustainability.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:
– Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, Mining, Natural Resources Management, or related field.
– Minimum 5 years’ experience in environmental management, preferably at a mine site.
– Strong understanding of environmental audits, reporting, and regulatory engagement.
– Strong knowledge of ISO 14001:2015 and Auditing SHE and incident investigation training.
