Job Description
Qualifications:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized university.
Experience:
Four (4) years’ experience in investigating maladministration or in the legal field.
Main Purpose of the Job:
To investigate moderately complex cases of maladministration and violation of human rights.
Summary of Duties
1.Investigates moderately complex cases of maladministration & human rights violations
2.Consults complainants and makes appropriate responses
3.Directs any person to furnish information either orally, in writing, on affidavit, on oath, and/or directs any person to produce any document in his/her possession or control which has a bearing on the matter being investigated.
4.Attends and examines witnesses.
5.Recommends remedial action to Ministries/Departments to rectify injustice arising from maladministration
6.Mediates to facilitate amicable resolution of complaints
7.Conducts public education awareness campaigns on the role and functions of the Ombudsman.
8.Generates legal opinions on moderately complex and sensitive specific subjects for the Ombudsman.
9.Audits supervisees’ investigation files
10.Recommends closure of files
11.Recommends issuance of subpoena to Principal Legal Investigator
