
Operations Manager – Manned Security Services at G4S
Job Description
Main Purpose of Position
Manage the overall performance of the business in all branches to meet set targets and contribute in achieving company objectives. The main functions include:

Effective management of the branches financial performance

Effective and efficient management of the branches operations

Ensure that staff motivation and performance levels meet G4S standards
-
Ensure maintenance of customer service levels
-
Support the implementation of HSSEC improvement plans in the branches
Key Performance Areas
Effective Management of Branches Financial Performance
-
Drive revenue growth by identifying new business opportunities in the branch sphere of operations through an integrated security solutions approach
-
Ensure organic growth within existing clients and through price increases
-
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the competitor environment faced by the different branches
-
Gross Margin Management
-
Implement cost saving model and controls
-
Ensure labour efficiency controls e.g. optimal establishment, overtime control, proper billing by confirming the accuracy of the A-Register
-
Ensure overhead controls according to set targets
-
Achieve price increases and contract profitability according to set targets
-
Achieve existing revenue growth
-
Assist debt management i.e. enforcing the credit policy
Efficient and Effective Operations Management
-
Oversee the provision of contractual and ad hoc security services to ensure that they are executed profitably and in compliance to standardized business practices
-
Ensure that resources are optimally deployed
-
Arranging departmental meetings and forwarding approved jobs to the HR Manager for submission to evaluation meetings and ratification.

Assist in coordinating the annual manpower forecast.
-
Contributing to the Human Resources newsletter quarterly.

Conduct exit interviews, analyze information and make recommendations to management for appropriate action.
Compliance and Process Improvement
-
Audits, verifies accuracy of data and ensures maintenance of the database systems which incorporate payrolls (Sage 300, Easy-Roster), change of status, manpower statistics.

Identify process improvements affecting HR deliverables based on business mandate.

Provide management information pertinent to the Human Resources function to assist with the decision making in a range of areas such as:

Recruitment tracking information

Employee profiles
-
Work force profiles
-
Performance ratings
-
Manpower rationalization
-
Coordinate Industrial Relations and Welfare activities
-
Assist in coordinating the group (staff) development issues and training needs analysis.
-
Conduct HR/IR training with guidance from the Senior HR Business Partner.
-
Assist in attending to disciplinary cases as well as maintaining a calm IR environment.
-
Assist in HR related projects. Conduct and analyse climate studies, surveys and opinion polls in departments and make recommendations for appropriate action.

Ensure that staff files and related information is accurately maintained.
Staff management and development
-
In liaison with HR Leader ensure that training of employees take place as well as maintaining high customer service standards in the Southern Region.

Ensure that events/activities taking place within the company are effectively communicated within team and to other teams requiring the information as well as ensuring that briefing registers are completed and feedback given to employees on issues raised during briefing sessions.

Ensure adequate succession plan to meet ongoing and anticipated business requirements as well as ensuring business continuity.
Implementation and integration of the HSSEC strategy and culture within the business unit

Instil a culture of health and safety awareness and commitment to zero harm across the division.

Assist the HSE Manager to embed health and safety awareness and responsible behaviour across the different departments.

Monitor and reduce the number of health and safety incidents.
