Job Description

Botswana Harvard Health Partnership is a collaborative research and training initiative between government of Botswana and the Harvard School of Public Health. BHP is dedicated to fight HIV/AIDS and related public health challenges through collaborative research, education and capacity building. We seek an experienced, assertive, result driven leader for the position of:

 

 

HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

 

 

Job Purpose

 

 

The role reports directly to the Operations Director and is responsible for overseeing the Human Resources function, driving its activities while also ensuring support to the BHP as a whole.

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

 

• Develop and implement HR Strategies, policies and procedures aligned to BHP’s mission, values and strategic objectives.
• Lead and oversee the full employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, retention and exit processes.
• Design and implement training and capacity-building programs to strengthen staff skills and professional growth.
• Manage staff welfare, health and safety, wellness and psychosocial support initiatives.
• Advise Management and staff on HR Best Practice.
• Support Department Heads in organizational development, change management and workforce planning.
• Ensure fair, transparent and compliant HR practices in line with labour law.
• Handle employee relations matters including conflict resolution, grievance management and disciplinary processes.
• Lead initiatives to promote a positive, inclusive and values-driven organizational culture.
• Manage payroll, benefits administration, and staff records with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Coordinate the organization-wide performance management process ensuring consistent goal setting, regular feedback, fair evaluations and alignment of employee performance with BHP’s strategic objectives.

 

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources/Business Administration or related field (Master’s Degree/HR Certification an added advantage).
• Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR experience, with a minimum of 2 years at Managerial level (NGO experience an added advantage).
• Membership to an HR professional body

 

 

Skills and Competencies:

 

 

• Strong knowledge of Botswana labour legislation and HR best practice.
• Proven leadership, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
• Excellent Communication, Interpersonal and organizational skills.
• High Level of integrity, professionalism and cultural sensitivity.
