Job Description

The Financial Intelligence Agency is an Agency of Government responsible mainly for the production and dissemination of financial intelligence to relevant authorities to combat money laundering, terrorist and proliferation financing and other financial crimes. The Agency is also responsible for ensuring compliance with the requirements of the Financial Intelligence Act by Specified Parties and Accountable Institutions.

VACANCY CIRCULAR NO. 4 OF 2025
VACANCY: PRINCIPAL FINANCIAL ANALYST I
SALARY: D2 (P337,008 – P 371, 628 per annum)
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Benefits: i) Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and Employees pay 50%).
ii) Contributory Pension Scheme (Government pays 15% and Employees pays 5%).

Qualifications:

 

Candidates should have at least Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy/ Economics/Financial or any other related field. A Master’s Degree in relevant fields will be an added advantage.

 

Experience:

 

At least ten (10) years’ post qualification work experience of which two (2) years or equivalent must have been served as an Officer I/II on D3 salary scale or equivalent. Experience in any of the following fields is a requirement:

 

• Public or private sector or any other field that is relevant. Experience in any of the following fields is a requirement:
• Financial Investigations.
• Financial Analysis.
• Money laundering and combating of terrorism financing.
• Professional Course in Fraud and/or Financial Crime.
• Experience in the capital markets.

 

Main Purpose of the Job:

 

To collect, analyse, direct and interpret information and other relevant records, evaluate the information in the context of Botswana’s efforts to money laundering, terrorist financing, proliferation financing, and other related crimes; disseminate financial intelligence to relevant competent Authorities.

 

Duties:

 

• Requests for financial information from reporting entities and other stakeholders to support operational queries.
• Receives and analyses suspicious transactions reports and regulatory information from reporting entities and law enforcement agencies.
• Collecting, processing and analyzing data sets of basic complexity and add value to enhance interpretation and establish if there are reasonable grounds for disclosure to relevant stakeholders.
• To apply analytical approaches to processes and crimes, detect proceeds of crime.
• Assist and contribute in the development, implementation and maintenance of the flow of information protocols with the Agency and between the Agency and its stakeholders.
• Inform relevant stakeholders through regular operational feedback and statistics to all operations.
• Undertake any other related duties as assigned by management.
