The Botswana Trade Commission (BOTC) is a Parastatal under the Ministry of Trade and Entrepreneurship (MTE), established in 2013 through an act of Parliament pursuant to article 14 of the SACU Agreement of 2002. The Commission (BTC) is to promote fair international trade practices and to facilitate the development of international trade, to regulate the import and export of goods, to provide for the implementation of the SACU Agreement and to provide for matters incidental thereto. BTC is done with an aim to promote fair trade and industry competitiveness. The Commission wishes to attract Botswana Citizens into the following positions:
ACCOUNTANT I
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To ensure all financial records and statements are in line with laws, regulations, and generally accepted accounting principles. Records financial statements, balance sheet, income statement, cash-flow statement, and tax returns.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business plus ACCA, CIMA.
EXPERIENCE
At least eight (8) years post-qualification experience, two (2) of which should have been at supervisory level.
Experience working in a computerized accounting environment is required.

KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provide accurate information to management by researching and analysing accounting data and preparing reports.
• Implementing, monitoring and ensuring account entries by compiling and analysing account information.
• Recording financial transactions by entering account information.
• Summarises current financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports.
• Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures.
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analysing account information.
• Consolidates and closing subsidiary accounts by analysing and reconciling account information and trends.
• Manage suppliers’ and clients’ documentation and requesting disbursements.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
• Perform an accurate payroll function that will always be in line with the balances in the general ledger for effective reporting of BOTC’s assets and ensure compliance with international accounting standards.
• Provide assistance to external and internal auditors as required.
• Adheres to performance management cycle deadlines, identifies own training and development needs.
