NATIONAL BUYER: NON-FOODS
Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has an opportunity for a seasoned professional to take up the role of NATIONAL BUYER: NON-FOODS. The position is tenable at Sefalana Head Office in Gaborone.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
a) A Bachelor’s degree in commerce, business management, logistics and supply management, or a related field study. Professional certifications in procurement will be an added advantage.
b) At least ten (10) years’ work experience as a buyer in an FMCG business environment; preferably having notably worked as a buyer for a group of branches or a division.
c) Practical exposure to dealing with local and international non-foods suppliers and making strategic procurement decisions.
d) Fully conversant with non-food product categories, consumer/market trends, and able to capitalize on such trends to enhance business growth opportunities.
e) Possess good negotiation skills required to secure a competitive advantage for the business.
f) Requisite problem-solving skills to resolve merchandise-related queries and maintain stakeholder relationships.
g) Strong communication skills to connect all management teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
h) A strong commitment to ethical business practices to ensure sustainable business results.
i) A Class B driver’s license.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
a) Plan and execute strategic buy-in initiatives for the non-foods product categories.
b) Source for new suppliers and product offerings to strengthen the company’s product mix.
c) Perform due diligence assessments on all new suppliers before listing them/their products.
d) Negotiate trading terms with suppliers to secure a competitive advantage for the business.
e) Support the branches by sharing information and resolving merchandise-related queries.
f) Plan sales promotions as per the planner and review the success of past sales promotions.
g) Assess business performance and innovate lasting solutions to enhance business results.
h) Observe market trends and leverage emerging business opportunities to gain a competitive advantage.
