FINANCIAL DIRECTOR
Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has an opportunity for a seasoned professional to take up the role of Financial Director. The position is tenable at Sefalana Head Office in Gaborone.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
a) Be a Fellow member of the Botswana Institute of Chartered Accountants (BICA).
b) A traceable career record and having been trained/qualified through leading and reputable accounting firms will be an added advantage.
c) At least ten (10) years post qualification work experience, familiarity with the FMCG industry is a preference.
d) Computer literate with sound knowledge of Arch Retail Systems, Sage 300, any accounting software, and open to learning other computer applications.
e) Skilled in corporate financial management, good governance procedures, and financial control systems.
f) Dynamic, energetic, results-driven with sound interpersonal skills and ability to lead management teams effectively.
g) Strong analytical skills coupled with attentiveness to detail and problem-solving skills.
h) Proficient to deliver exceptional results and have the professionalism to present regular reports to stakeholders and project an appropriate corporate image.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reported to the Chief Executive Officer, the position holder will be expected to:
a) Oversee the Finance Department which comprises of Bookkeeping, Creditors, Credit Control, and Salaries Administration.
b) Spearhead the development of financial management policies to ensure risk mitigation, business efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
c) Provide strategic leadership to the management teams and ensure that there is productivity.
d) Participate in business strategy design and evaluation to ensure that the business gains a sustained competitive advantage.
e) Ensure that monthly management accounts and quarterly Board reports are submitted within strict deadlines.
f) Prepare annual financial budgets/forecasts, conduct routine analysis of variances to the set budgets, and advise management to make informed decisions.
g) Prepare annual financial statements and prepare for year end audits by external auditors to ensure that they are efficient.
h) Ensure effective management of cash flow to ensure liquidity and foreign exchange gains.
i) Serve as a Company Secretary and ensure that all statutory returns are submitted timely and accurately.
j) Manage the company’s tax obligations and ensure full compliance with tax and other laws.
