Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following position in the Ministry for State President, Department of Information Services.
Vacancy Circular No 32 of 2025
Position title: Deputy Director (Publications), Department of Information Services
Salary Scale: E2 (P449 256-467 436) per annum
Leave: 30 working days per annum

 


Benefits:

 

 

  • Optional contributory medical aid scheme with the Botswana Public Officers’ Medical Aid Scheme (BPOMAS) (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%).

  • Government will also contribute 50% of the medical aid cover for individuals who are already members of a different Medical Aid Scheme other than the BPOMAS.

  • A contract of 24 to 36 months, with a gratuity of 30% payable upon expiry of contract.

 


Qualifications:

 

 

  • Degree in Journalism or Mass Communication or Media Studies, or any related field.
    Experience:

  • Minimum of fourteen (14) relevant work experience in Journalism or related field, of which two (2) years should have been at D1 level in Government or equivalent in parastatal or private sectors.
    Main purpose of the job:

  • To direct guidance in the implementation of government information, print media as well as publications strategies and functions.
    Key performance Area:

  • Carries out awareness campaigns on government programmes and initiatives through Botswana Press Agency.

  • Initiates the formulation and reviews policies of the Department of Information Services.

  • Guides the development and implementation of the department strategies and annual performance plans.

  • Oversees the development and implementation of policies on news covering, production and publication.

  • Oversees the development and implementation of guidelines and standards for the department.

  • Monitors adherence to ethics and professional standards for reporting and publishing services.

  • Reviews and defines the scope of coverage of publications continuously and determines
