Job Description

Tebelopele Wellness Center (TWC) is a non-profit health and wellness organization dedicated to protecting and improving the lives of communities across Botswana for 25 years. Tebelopele centers are situated in 23 locations serving residents in rural, urban and town settings. In August 2018, Tebelopele expanded its service offerings from voluntary counselling and testing to integrated health care services for HIV prevention and care. HIV SRH services, which include HIV and STI Screening and Treatment, TB Screening, TB Preventative Therapy, Family Planning, NCD services, Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) in collaboration with the Ministry of Health. Tebelopele WC has been providing tailored, integrated facility-specific support to close HIV gaps related to HIV/AIDS, treatment and care, particularly among AGYW and men.

 

 

PHARMACY TECHNICIAN- GABORONE X1 & FRANCISTOWN X1

 

 

2.1 OVERALL PURPOSE

 


Reporting directly to the Senior Nurse Counsellor, the Pharmacy Technician will perform pharmacy related functions and will also be responsible for clinical drugs management across all the Tebelopele Wellness clinics. He/She will be responsible for the supply chain management of clinical commodities in the organization in liaison with Control Medical Stores. Must be knowledgeable in basic pharmacovigilance, setting and indications, dosages and patient about drug side effects and benefits. The Pharmacy Technician will be thoroughly versed in the TWC protocol and Standard Operating Procedures and will work with the Medical Officers, Nurse Counsellors and Warehouse Agent to ensure that set targets and timeframes are met.

 

 

2.2 COMPETENCIES

 

 

  • Up-to-date knowledge of the issues surrounding HIV/AIDS in Botswana and internationally.

  • Strong attention to detail, the ability to manage projects, establish workload priorities, and meet deadlines are critical.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written) & ability to work with diverse populations.

  • Proficient computer skills, including experience with MS Office applications & Excel.

  • Must be functional independently under dynamic circumstances.

 

 

2.3 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

 

 

  • A Higher National Diploma in Pharmacy is required for this position.

  • Registration with Botswana Health Professions Council

  • Three (3) years’ demonstrable experience as a Pharmacy Technician in a hospital or clinic setting.

  • Experience working on clinical supplies and drug supply management.

  • Experience providing health-related counselling and clinical skills.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple projects.
