The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehitlwa in Ngamiland. TAILINGS OPERATORS (FILTRATION / DAM)

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

 

 

The Tailings Operators (Filtration / Dam) will be responsible for providing seamless tailings deposition in accordance with the MMG Operational Manual by monitoring activities and ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.

 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

Your key accountabilities include:

 

 

  • Monitoring and managing tailings storage facilities to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
  • Operating water pumps, monitoring slurry densities, weather stations, and equipment related to tailings management, adhering to operational protocols.
  • Maintaining general housekeeping of slurry delivery lines and work areas to support safe and efficient operations.
  • Assisting line managers by carrying out tasks and instructions to support tailings operations.
  • Connecting and disconnecting HDPE deposition pipes according to the deposition plan.
  • Operating water pumps, valves, pipelines, and related equipment for tailings and reclaim water systems, while monitoring slurry densities, weather stations, and flow to ensure safe and even deposition.
  • Conducting routine inspections of TSF embankments, pipelines, discharge points, return water systems, and equipment, reporting leaks, blockages, or abnormal conditions promptly.
  • Assisting with maintenance activities, including cleaning spigots and clearing debris from pipelines.
  • Recording daily operational data such as pump run hours, flow rates, and inspection findings.
  • Supporting safe start-up and shut-down procedures for pumping systems
  • Following all SHEC (Safety, Health, Environment, and Community) protocols and site-specific rules.
  • Participating in daily pre-start meetings, toolbox talks, and tailings- specific training sessions.
  • Collaborating closely with the Tailings Supervisor and Shift Foremen to ensuring smooth operations.
  • Assisting during emergencies or abnormal TSF conditions under the direction of supervisors.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

 

 

  • BGCSE
  • A minimum 1+ years of experience working on Mineral processing plant
  • Tailings dam operation experience is added advantage
  • Ability to receive and follow instructions and communicate with co-workers
