The positions are based at the Mine Site located between Maun and Sehitlwa in Ngamiland. TAILINGS DAY SHIFT FOREMAN

 

 

BASIC FUNCTION OF THE POSITION:

 

 

The Tailings Day Shift Foreman will be responsible for overseeing the execution of the tailings deposition plan by planning activities, organising resources, delegating task responsibilities, leading personnel, and controlling risks, costs, and deviations to ensure compliance with MMG tailings standards. The role involves integrating process engineering, coordinating maintenance activities, ensuring legal compliance, and engaging stakeholders to optimise tailings deposition, water recovery, and dam integrity.

 

 

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

 

Your key accountabilities include:

 

 

  • Promoting and maintaining a strong safety culture on-site to support a zero-harm work environment.
  • Conducting daily progress reporting, monitoring site developments, and escalating issues to the Tailings Superintendent or MMG Management as required.
  • Allocating and scheduling resources, including plant, materials, and labour.
  • Identifying risks related to resources and implementing preventative measures.
  • Monitoring staff performance to ensure operational efficiency and safety.
  • Managing costs to stay within budget and optimise resource use.
  • Overseeing contractor management to ensure compliance and performance standards.
  • Tracking and coaching shift workers on key performance indicators (KPIs) for continuous improvement.
  • Supervising tailings operators and contractors during day shift operations to ensure safe and effective TSF performance.
  • Monitoring tailings deposition activities, return water systems, and stormwater management to maintain compliance with operational plans.
  • Inspecting TSF infrastructure, including pipelines, pumps, spigots, and embankments, and reporting defects or abnormal conditions.
  • Coordinating with the Process Plant, Maintenance, and Environmental teams to ensuring proper tailings discharge and water recovery.
  • Maintaining accurate records of daily tailings operations, inspections, incidents, and shift handovers.
  • Leading daily toolbox talks and shift briefings, and ensuring team understanding of tasks, risks, and controls.
  • Responding to operational issues or emergencies in the TSF area and escalating critical issues as required.
  • Collaborating with the Deputy RTFE and other technical staff to support monitoring, data collection, and compliance activities.
  • Conducting routine inspections and walkdowns of the TSF area to identify risks, non-conformances, or improvement opportunities.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR EFFECTIVE PERFORMANCE:

 

 

  • BGCSE
  • Basic tailings course is an added advantage
  • A minimum 10+ years of experience working on Mineral Processing plants
  • 5 years’ Upstream tailings experience at Foreman level and above
