Job Title: Pharmacist

Job Purpose:
Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the Pharmacists’ role is that of Procurement Manager to provide access to registered and unregistered pharmaceuticals through affordable, efficient distribution systems. The pharmacist is responsible for managing pharmaceutical purchasing, analysis of stock and trends, maintaining acceptable and accurate levels of product inventory, resolving vendor related issues, and ensuring contract compliance for all relevant pharmaceutical principals. He/she is responsible to source and purchase the best possible products at the best possible prices. The Pharmacist shall also assist the Quality and Regulatory Pharmacist.
Job Outputs: (Key Accountabilities)
1. Procurement
• Act as the buyer for a dedicated group of companies or suppliers of pharmaceutical, consumable, and surgical products for the company.
• Maintains accurate and timely processing of purchase order transactions through Supply Chain and Company processes. Does daily ordering of pharmaceutical stock through both online and direct submission of purchase orders to pharmaceutical companies, distributors, and other suppliers. Maintains open orders. Analyses supplier performance.
• Manages administration and effective communication function of the position.
• Manages and maintains appropriate inventory levels, in collaboration with company management, including stock levels, short-dated stock and dormant stock. Proactively manages pharmaceutical shortages including early notification of potential shortages to management and clients.
• Oversees and manages the receiving of cold chain and schedule 4 medicines.
• Assists with compiling of tender documents and procurement of tender medicines and products.
1. Pharmacist duties:
• Enforces the Botswana Medicines and Related Substances Act 2013 and maintains the functional governance framework for company pharmaceutical operations.
• Assists with any task that pertains to the profession of a pharmacist, including on call duties.
1. Regulatory and Quality:
• Assists with periodic internal reviews or audits to ensure that compliance procedures are followed.
• Assists to formulate policies and standard operating procedures.

• Follows all Health, safety and hygiene policies and protocols.
• Follows all policies, procedures and SOP’s.
SECTION 3: REQUIREMENTS OF THE JOB
Minimum Qualifications:
• Degree in Bachelor of Pharmacy
• Registered with Botswana Health Professions Council (BHPC)
Minimum Experience:
• 2+ years’ experience as a pharmacist. Retail experience will be an added advantage
Knowledge & Skills
• Knowledgeable of pharmaceutical and related legislation, and compliance on every level
• Knowledge of logistics or business administration can be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of sourcing and procurement techniques
• Strong leadership and administrative capabilities.
• Financial and numerical skills.
• Result driven with time management skills.
• Excellent planning and organizing skills.
• Good negotiating skills.
• Accurate and attention to detail.
• Excellent communicational skills, both written and verbal
