REGIONAL GENERAL MANAGER

Sefalana Cash & Carry, a leading distributor of Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) in Botswana, has opportunities for a seasoned trader to take up the role of a *REGIONAL GENERAL MANAGER*. This is a senior management position and reports directly to the Country Head of Retail. The position is tenable in Gaborone.

 

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

 

a) A bachelor’s degree in business management/administration, commerce, retail management or any related field of study. Additional certifications in business management will be an added advantage.
b) At least ten (10) years’ management experience within the FMCG sector; and at least five (5) years’ work experience at a senior or upper middle management level.
c) Competent in interpreting and using financial statements and general management reports.
d) A strong retail background having dealt with, and managed, different product categories – general groceries, bakery, butchery, and deli departments.
e) Strong business acumen and analytical skills necessary to drive key performance areas within an FMCG business unit.
f) Be able to manage and motivate management teams to enhance the team’s productivity.
g) Be able to assess the market and exploit opportunities to enhance business performance.
h) Be decisive and able to resolve customer queries, supplier queries, and employee issues.
i) Be able to establish and maintain good stakeholder relationships with all key stakeholders.
j) A valid Class B driver’s license.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will, among others, be expected to:
a) Participate in the formulation of the business strategy and the financial budgeting process.
b) Communicate the business strategy to his/her teams and develop action plans accordingly.
c) Coach and support management teams to implement strategic initiatives in their branches.
d) Supervise a team of line managers to enhance their productivity and business performance.
e) Review management reports to assess business performance and develop remedial actions.
f) Investigate new/under-exploited business opportunities to enhance business performance.
g) Meet the sales revenue, gross profit, stockholding, and stock loss targets set for the region.
h) Conduct routine visits to the branches to provide support to the management teams and assess their adherence to housekeeping/merchandising standards.
i) Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders for the benefit of the business.
